I am still debating whether or not to start sowing seeds for next year's harvest. What will the weather do? will it be cold or will it stay warm like it has been all Fall? I really can't see it being a cold winter.
Last frost date for Houston is normally mid-March but we can all agree that the weather in Houston was not normal this past year. My prediction is that we have a few more dips below freezing and then another hot, dry summer. Last frost day? Mid-February.
That being said I will be gambling on the mid-February date for last frost and starting seeds next week in order to get them out into the garden. That way I have an early harvest before the scorching summer heat takes hold.
After pulling up the wheat grass and using it as decoration for a catered Christmas party I had an empty spot in the garden. It gets full-sun, is protected from the wind, and is right next to a South facing exterior wall of the building. The perfect spot to start some garlic. So I grabbed some garlic out of the refrigerator and proceeded to plant 25 new cloves. Should start to seem some shoots in a few weeks and harvest the crop around July.Does anyone else have a prediction for when the last frost date will be for Houston in 2012?
